Owen's First Christmas

We had a great Christmas! Jerry was put on call on Christmas eve and his half shift on Christmas day so he was able to spend more time with us. We spent time with both families and dragged Owen back and forth, he is such a good baby! We spent Christmas Eve my (Adrienne's) family. All of my siblings were here with the exception of my oldest brother's family (we missed you guys!). It was really fun, I don't think we have had that many people here for a long time. On Christmas afternoon we headed over to Jerry's family's house for some more Christmas festivities. We had a good time over there and that evening celebrated Jerry's sister Raylene's birthday. It was a great Christmas. We are so blessed to have Owen in our lives, I don't know what we would do without him. We love him so much! He is getting so big and smiling SO big, we love it! Not too much

Not too much to blog about. I'm feeling stressed. I won't bore you with those things. Owen is so much fun. He was spitting up so much I decided to pay more attention to what exactly I was eating when he had his worst days. So.. sad discovery.. no more caffeine, chocolate, or dairy of any kind :( SAD DAY! It's been really hard but he is SO much more happy and spits up so much less. He is having a hard time sleeping in a bed though. We spoiled him beyond belief when he was brand new (we couldn't put him down!) and now he has a really hard time sleeping alone. I have been working with him for the past couple of days to let me lay him down for naps and at night to sleep. Last night he slept in his crib for a WHOLE HOUR! Tonight I got him in there a little earlier and he is working on an hour now. I have to go back to work the week after Christmas and I am so sad! I am already worrying about it. For some reason I feel SO guilty whenever I leave Owen. I feel like I know him best and he will cry less if I am there... that's probably really lame but there you have it. Pathetic old Adrienne. Well... I better stop with this post.... its MUCHO DEPRESSING. Maybe tomorrow I will be in a better mood :p

2 Month Appointment

I can't believe that it's already been two months!! Time flies so fast! Owen had his two month appointment this week and got his weigh in. He now weighs 12 lb 9.5 oz and is now 23 inches long. He has gotten SO chubby!

Owen seems to be growing every day and I can't believe that it's only been seven weeks! We love him so much! He is getting more chunky every day and his smiles are the best! We are excited for the holidays and for the time we will get to spend with family.

One Month!

It is so crazy to think that it has already been a month! Owen is getting so big he looks huge compared to how we first saw him. We are having so much fun with our little boy we are LOVING every minute! I am really glad that I am able to spend three months off with him... but I may have a hard time going back to work. I love devoting my whole day to taking care of such a cute little one. I love being a mom! Even though some days are exhausting I still love every minute of it. If one can get through 2 years of nursing school and working full time you can do anything!!! I actually have so much energy lately compared to the level that I have had the last little while. Jerry said today "My wife's back!!"... and all I had to do was deep clean the bathroom.... WHO KNEW ;) I am having SO much fun and am so grateful for my little family... and of course.. MORE PICTURES FOR YOU ALL.. I know you love them!

Time flies!

Time flies when you're having fun! Owen is almost 4 weeks old and is so much fun (except for 3 am maybe :) We are adjusting to parenthood fairly well.. it;s still hard but is getting a tiny bit easier. I am not missing work AT ALL! My stress level is so much lower.... Imagine that :) I will have to post more pictures soon but for now this one is my newest favorite! :)

One week

Owen is seven days old today! It's crazy to think that he came out of me! Lol. He is such a great little baby and we love him so much. I can't imagine life without him. He definitely keeps night-time interesting but we love him so soo much. We both love being parents!!!

The Best Day - Owen Jeremiah Porter 10/2/2009 - 6lb 10oz 19.5 inches long

Friday was the best day for our little family. I went in Thursday evening around 7:30pm and was induced and we had our little guy in our arms by Friday. Owen Jeremiah Porter was born Friday October 2 @ 9:31 a.m. He weighed 6 lb 10 oz and 19 1/2 inches long. Even though the first couple of days have been hard life is really great! Here is a slideshow :)

The REAL countdown begins!

Went to the Dr. today and everything is great! I started dilating enough where he is happy about inducing me no problem. So.. Thursday evening around 7 pm is my induction appointment! Countdown .... 2 days, 0 hours, 17 minutes until I get induced. Yay!

Time Is Ticking!

My pregnancy countdown is coming to an end pretty soon! I went to the Dr yesterday for an appointment and my BP was still a little high. The baby and everything else looks really good but he is a little concerned that my BP will just continue to go up. So... the plan is that I go and see him 2 times a week and... he told me to try and go into labor! So.. homework for Adrienne - go into labor, don't quite know how I'm supposed to achieve that one quite yet. Anyways. He said that he would consider inducing me know if I was dilating a little bit more than I am.. if I do start to dilate he may just decide to induce at that point. But.. he did say that if I haven't already had the baby by 39 weeks then he will induce me at that point. So baby porter will be making an appearance within the next 2 weeks! Wish Jerry and I (me a little more than Jerry since I have all the hard work to do.. lol) luck! :)

Latest update

Well I had an appointment with my doctor today and it really didn't go that great. My blood pressure was 160's over 88 or something like that and I had some protein in my urine. So he thought it would be best to do an ultrasound to make sure that Owen is growing okay, draw some blood, and some other tests along with that. My blood pressure went down a tiny bit in the time that I was at the office but not enough to make my Dr happy about it. Little Owen is growing well and according to ultrasound is weighing about 5 lbs 8 oz. My blood work came back fine. So.. one more test result to go and then the Dr and I are "going to have another chat". He told me to call in sick to work tonight so that he can figure out if I can go back to work at all. As much as I like not working I don't really want to have to go on bedrest early :( If my tests don't come back better than I will probably have to not work anymore and be induced at my 37 week mark (less than two weeks away). So.. now I am just waiting until tomorrow to see what he decides. Wish Jerry, Owen, and I luck!

Baby Shower & House Prep Fun!

I had my baby shower thrown by my fabulous sister in law on Saturday! It was really fun! I may post some pictures if I get them. I happen to hate being the center of attention but it was really great to see all the family/friends and to start getting excited about our little Owen's arrival. I was excited before but now I think it's getting to be more of a reality that he is almost here! I missed all that couldn't come but totally understand that life is crazy :) Wish me luck in the next couple of weeks. I have two due dates... either Oct 6th (which my doc thinks is more likely) or Oct 13th. If I have him around that 13th that only leaves me FIVE WEEKS from today!?! The earlier date would only leave me FOUR WEEKS!?!?! We have been extremely busy working on our house this past week. We have ripped out all carpet and tile, painted the entire house (may never ever do that again!), now we have to wait for the carpet (which hopefully will be here next week), and pain baseboards and touch-ups, clean our old apt, and move all of our stuff. It's crazy how time flies. The pregnancy has actually flown by pretty fast since I have been crazy busy most of it.. again.. Wish us luck in the next couple of weeks. :)

Home Ownership Day #1

Today we closed on our house! Yahoo!!!! Today consisted of

home ownership day #1 = Signed many many papers, spent lots of money at Lowe's, took up tile and carpet (harder than it sounds!), scrubbed some walls.... now very tired!

33 Week Baby Belly

33 weeks.. Only seven more to go!

Our little guy is almost here! Only seven more weeks to go (hopefully six)! Right now he is the size of a pineapple.. funny to think about. I will post some belly pictures later when I take some :)

We are moving!!

I wanted to wait until we were sure to post the big news. Jerry and I are buying a house! Its a really cute home in La Verkin (4 bed 2 bath 2 car garage) and we are closing on the home sometime next week. Word on the street is Monday but we will see how that goes. We are really excited to be buying something instead of renting and are anxious to move and get the house all ready before the newest addition to the family arrives (8ish weeks!!). We have already picked out carpet and paint and are just waiting to get the keys so that we can paint and give the carpet layers the okay. Jerry starts his respiratory therapy program on the 24th and he is getting very excited for that. So, looks like this is going to be a fun and eventful month! ..I will post pictures later when the carpet and the paint is done :)

Jerry and I were bored this evening so we decided to make ozzy a little outfit. Lol. It was a funny pattern we saw online. Here he is!

30 weeks! Only ten more to go!

Here is my baby belly at 30 weeks. We are getting very excited for our little boy to come! It's going to be a crazy couple of weeks though!! Jerry is starting his respiratory therapy program in two weeks at Dixie. Our house closes right about three days before Jerry's school starts and we have so much to do before the baby comes! We need to re-paint the whole house, get new carpet and tile, and move! Yikes! It's going to be a fun month!!!

28 weeks!

Our baby is now equal in weight to a Chinese cabbage -- about 2 1/4 pounds. (Length: almost 15 inches, from head to heel.) He also can blink with his eyes!

Porter Family Reunion

We just got back yesterday from a family reunion with the Porters. It was tons of fun. We went up to fish lake and spent three days camping! The weather was great and we had a lot of fun.

24 weeks 3 days

Our baby is starting to seem so much more real every day! I am starting to feel more pregnant (due to the ever growing belly) and Jerry felt the little guy kick today for the first time! Here is a comparison picture from four weeks ago.

Fun little facts - An Ear of Corn?

Today is the twenty four week mark of the pregnancy. Baby Porter is now the size of an ear of corn :) He is growing steadily and is almost a foot long and weighs just over a pound.

Fishin' Season

As you can tell it's fishing season! This trip was a lot more productive than the last one! Our total was 7 - 15+ inch rainbow trout. The weather was perfect also which helped!

Graduation etc..

I've been a little lazy about my blogging so I will have to catch up :) I graduated from nursing school on May 18th and it felt soo good! It's so nice to know I am all the way done, even though it doesn't quite feel like it yet. The next day I went to a Kaplan NCLEX review course in Las Vegas for the rest of the week. It's a class to basically help you study for state boards. Jerry and I went camping up in Zion this week... it didn't turn out so great. I guess trying to camp when you are five months pregnant and having the weather be in the 90's doesn't go together too well. We ended up coming home early. Crazy for us to do. The pregnancy is still going great! I am still feeling really good although I do feel the Saint George weather! It is so HOT. I have been feeling our little guy kicking for a few weeks and he just seems to be getting stronger. It seems like I have a jumping bean in my belly. I got accepted into the Internship program for new RN graduates at Dixie Regional and will be starting that in about two weeks. I am pretty excited! We will see how night shift turns out for me....

So much to celebrate!

Jerry and I have so much to celebrate and be grateful for! I am finished with nursing school and my graduation is in 3 days! Jerry just recieved his letter of acceptance from Dixie College's respiratory therapy program! WE couldn't be more excited!!!! He is really excited to get started in a program. Also, as already mentioned we are expecting our first baby in October! We are so grateful for everything that we have and all the good things that are going on with us.
